Coachella – Music and Arts Festival

If there is a paradise on Earth, it is at Coachella, an oasis in the middle of the desert, surrounded by palm trees and mountains, and the people there are beautiful, free, and happy. The legendary and the largest music and arts festival, tickets for which sell out within an hour, making it also the most profitable music event in the United States.

Coachella - the most famous festival of independent music ─ got its name from the place of residence in the Coachella Valley, located near the paradise of millionaires, the glamorous town of Palm Springs in California. As you know, the Coachella music festival is popular not only in the United States but also attracts people from all over the world. Since 2012, Coachella has become not just a music festival, but a large-scale event that attracts hundreds of thousands of people every year. People are attracted by the musical performances, the participation of guests (in recent years they even started inviting Asian stars as performers), the unique Coachella outfits, and the general atmosphere.

In 2019, the festival was held for the 20th time. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this major music festival had to be suspended for two years. The return of Coachella in 2022 was eagerly anticipated by many. The first Coachella was held in 1999, although the unofficial starting point is considered to be as early as 1993 when the band Pearl Jam gathered about 25,000 people in the picturesque valley for their performance.

Since 2012, Coachella (it was then that the festival first brought together more than 100,000 fans of music and outdoor activities) has been held on the last weekend of April in two stages (three days each) with a break of a week. The concert program of the first and second weekends is the same, the only difference is the surprise performers - two secret guests, whose names are kept secret and revealed just before the performance. But you should go to the festival not only for the music but also to see a lot of interesting installations!

This music festival attracts not only cool music but also interesting adventures. After all, you are in the middle of the desert for several days, where the temperature exceeds 40 degrees in the daytime and drops to +10 in the evening. It is quite challenging for you when picking out the Coachella outfits since you need to protect yourself not only from the sun but also from the sand.

The fact that at Coachella you can easily meet celebrities (or at least cross paths with them) is not a joke because most of the guests are world stars and VIPs. Stars regularly come to the festival: regular guest Leo DiCaprio, actor Gerard Butler, singer Katy Perry and Selena Gomez, actress Diane Kruger, model Hailey Baldwin, Kendall Jenner and Alessandra Ambrosio, and many others. So at the mere thought of meeting so many stars, you're even more unsure of what to wear to Coachella, aren't you?

Another distinctive feature of this music festival is Coachella outfits. The paparazzi chase after the photos of the festival guests, perhaps with the same excitement as at the Oscars. Clothes are scarce, to put it bluntly, but that only makes it more beautiful. Boho-chic - a bizarre mix of bohemianism and hippie culture - dominates. Short shorts, flag dresses, swimsuits, cowboy boots and hats of all colors, prints, chevrons, lace, feathers, and sequins - the eclecticism of the event.

What Is Coachella Style?

Coachella can be considered the place where music and fashion meet, creating a unique event that attracts the attention of not only music gourmets but also fashion icons. There are no strict attire requirements at Coachella, so participants are free to show their imagination and wear the most colorful and memorable outfits.

Coachella outfits are based on three whales: ethnics, boho, and grunge. Boho and hippie-style women's clothing is prioritized at the festival. The hippie style of the 60s and 70s conveys the main mood of the festival well, but, of course, it is not very relevant to quote this era verbatim in their outfits.

"Children of colors" in their sets combine both ethnic and bohemian-vintage styles. Add to them a drop in the form of heavy boots or brutal accessories - and we are close enough to the style of the inhabitants of Coachella. In general, not only the style but also the whole philosophy of non-violence and healthy hedonism of hippies reflects well the philosophy of the festival - Make Peace Not War.

What to Wear to Coachella?

Sure, people say they go to Coachella for the tunes - after all, it's a popular music festival - but there's no doubt that people aren't attracted to it by the stylish attire, either. The California Valley welcomes all that is hard to call every day. It's a place for fashion crazes, personality-enhancing looks, and opportunities to reinterpret art in your way.

In the Californian town of Indigo, the best Instagram photo shoot spot is set up every year. Neither the Galeries Lafayette at Christmas nor the Burning Man festival that takes place at the end of summer can compare to it: an astronaut suspended in the air, a giant Ferris wheel, and a gilded unicorn carousel attract models, bloggers, designers, and stylists. Some enjoy the performances of touring artists - Donald Glover, Jaden Smith, Selena Gomez, and Ariana Grande, others dream of meeting big celebrities - Paris Hilton, Hailey Bieber, Emily Ratakowski, and Gigi Hadid, and others hope to attract more followers to their profiles - one photo against a colorful set design, and voila - you're popular!

Instagrammable festivals demand cool Coachella outfits from their guests, especially since it is the only place where you can freely walk around in nude mesh, overdo the sequins, and ignore the pants.

Denim
Here we come to the most important attribute of all fashionistas at the festival - denim. Of course, the most popular were denim shorts, second place was taken by skirts and jackets, and only then jeans themselves, exclusively ripped. Still, it is too hot in California, but some girls choose to go out in denim overalls and tight dresses, though extra-mini length.

For the festival, the image is a great combination of denim with... denim, as well as with cropped tops, lace bras, sequin T-shirts, or even with a simple T-shirt. However, in the latter case, it is worth picking up bright accessories, such as a row of long-neck pendants or massive earrings. And don't forget about biker shoes and wide belts.

Knit top + mesh skirt
If you prefer a more sophisticated and feminine Coachella outfit, you can add a knit top that exposes your stomach and a long skirt or skirt with fringe to your closet for the Coachella festival. Keep in mind that knits such as tops and skirts are very popular. You probably see these items of clothing on fashion bloggers a lot. It looks maximum beautiful and elegant! Especially in white color.

Y2k style top + cargo pants
But if you prefer the 2000s style, you can opt for loose work pants, complementing them with platform sandals, 2000s-style sunglasses, and a soft short blouse in neutral shades. Choosing work pants when attending Coachella is a very smart decision. It will keep you stylish and also provide some insulation on chilly desert nights. Don't forget to add a colorful bag to this look to show off your fashion sense.

Wearing white
White, surprisingly enough, becomes the main color at festivals. Firstly, things of this color look the most summer-like, and secondly, it is much easier to combine. So, a white mini-dress can be worn with a denim shirt, and a skirt can be complemented with a silver top. As for textures and styles - here fashionistas went wild! We saw layered skirts, bralettes, dresses with dropped shoulders, capes, jackets, and, of course, accessories.

Slim-fit tops and dresses
Thin strapless tops and dresses are perfect for a tan and slim silhouette. Coachella outfits are characterized by models made of flowing fabrics that do not tighten but emphasize the curves of the figure. The color can be any, but saturated chocolate, black, khaki and other dark shades are ideal. Wear such a dress with a choker around the neck and rough boots on the feet. If it gets cold, you can throw on a denim shirt. By the way, tops made of denim on thin straps are also not prohibited. They will be a perfect match for wide pants.

Bikini + low-rise jeans
If you're tired of boring and monotonous tops and jeans, try this bold combination with a bikini and low-rise jeans. And don't forget to add a little R&B vibe: wear a cap, and massive ring earrings and lower your pants just enough to peek out the elastic bands from your swimsuit.

Fishnet stockings
If Boho Festival Fashion 2022 seems to have abandoned boho, it seems that there is no escape from the mesh net. Mesh dresses, jumpsuits, and skirts are worn not only over lingerie or bodysuits but also on the naked body. We saw this technique at Coachella most often.

Headbands
In addition to all sorts of hats, you can complement your Coachella outfits with a headband. It can be a scarf, tied in the spirit of hippies, a headband of flowers, or a metalized decoration. You can wear them both with flying dresses and with your favorite simple T-shirt, denim shorts, and rough boots. For a complete look, choose bracelets with a similar style.
