However, the latter does not mean that everyone suddenly stopped working out to loose weight or at least care about that clothes do not visually add extra pounds.

Every woman has a dream of creating fashionable and stylish outfits like the Instagram fashion influencers do. But sometimes not everyone can pick up clothes to look great. The fault is the shortcomings of the body shape: bulging sides and belly, and uneven legs. Most of the girls want to look slim. It is true that many of us are not 100% satisfied with our appearance. This is the way women are - it always seems to them that perfection has no limits. Even if others say that our body shape or outfit is perfect, we can always find the"problem area" that we don't like.

To lose a little weight, it is not necessary to go on a diet urgently, sometimes it is enough to play around a few clever fashion tricks with clothes and beware of common mistakes when choosing clothes. Therefore, today we will talk about how to look skinny in clothes with the help of some stylistic tricks.

What Colors Make You Look Thinner?

Visual effects and details in clothes can both correct and mess up the figure. Color plays an important role in this. All of us have heard many times that black color visually makes the figure slimmer, and white - fuller. To understand whether this is true, let's understand the physics of color.

Visual deception is related to the ability of a colored object to reflect or absorb light rays. White-colored things reflect the maximum number of light waves that diverge in different directions. As a result, the boundary between white and another color is blurred, so objects seem bigger to us than they are.

Black color absorbs light rays, so its boundaries seem clearer than the object of white color, therefore, the thing of this color looks smaller than it is. Black is a classic color that is in the everyone's closet. This color goes well on everyone without exception and can emphasize the figure of any girl. To reach this effect, it is not necessary to dress in an all-black outfit, instead, you can spot correct "undesirable nuances", by wearing black clothes in the area where it is necessary, such as the hips, tummy, or arms.

Other colors also have properties that can visually correct the figure. Yellow, red, and orange selectively reflect waves in their short range, so a woman wearing clothes of these colors will look fuller than it really is.

When it comes to the color blue, the first thing we think of is the perfect jeans with an impeccable fit. But pay attention not only to the style but also to the right color shade that can slim your hips and waist area. Blue is notable for being a cold tone, which means that it has the property to visually reduce the area. But if we consider light blue jeans with scuffs, in this case, there is a risk, on the contrary, of adding a couple of extra pounds to your image.

Saturated, acidic, ultra-bright neon shades seem to create a luminous field around themselves, which is why there is an illusion of additional volume.

Any shiny fabrics (velvet, brocade, satin, organza, or sequins) reflect light from the surface, which also visually adds volume to your figure. And here it does not matter what color the clothes are. The larger the texture of the fabric (tweed, corduroy, fur, knitting), the more voluminous the silhouette looks.

Decorative elements, such as patch pockets, ruffles, drapery - the less they are, the better. Any superstructure over the basic silhouette adds volume. If you have narrow shoulders or hips, you can take notes and make the figure more proportional and expressive with the help of decor.

Monochrome or colorblock?

The vertical of one color always pulls out the silhouette and slims, but the division into separate color blocks, on the contrary, expands the silhouette. The lower the height, the denser the complexion, and the brighter the contrast of colors, the stronger this effect is noticeable. But this does not mean that you should always wear only monochrome things. The main thing is to set the right accents.

Light, pastel shades in the portrait area in most cases make the face look fresher, rested, and younger, while darker shades, on the contrary, emphasize wrinkles and dryness.

Outfit Ideas – Clothes That Make You Look Thinner

V-neck
A deep neckline can elongate your silhouette and lengthen your neck. The more body is visible from the chin to the chest, the more elegant your proportions will look. For example, V-neck dresses will make you look sexy, and scented dresses will hide extra pounds in the thigh area.

Vertical stripes
The miraculous influence of the vertical stripe cannot be overestimated. Another technique is to create a vertical in the image. It does not necessarily have to be a print or a longitudinal ornament - the desired effect can be created with the help of outerwear, under which a monochrome outfit is worn. Thus visually you will look slimmer and at the same time pull out the height. Even rows of buttons or a long scarf thrown over the neck have similar properties.

High waist
This is a well-known and the most common styling fly hack that is used most often. With the help of jeans, pants, and skirts with an high waist design, you will visually make your legs longer. Right now, silhouettes from the noughties are actively coming into fashion and the main marker of the decade is the low-waisted bottoms. There is nothing wrong with this, but if you still have a goal to add a few centimeters, it is better to ignore this trend. A low waist tends, on the contrary, can reduce your height very easily.

Cropped jacket
Shorter jackets, tops, sweatshirts, and jackets work on the same principle as a high waist - the border of your legs seems much higher than it is. This technique works best when paired with a high-waisted bottom.

Monochrome
One of the most universal techniques for figure correction is to create a total look in one color. The favorite and most popular shade for many has long been a rich black, which can simultaneously boast slimming and lengthening silhouette properties. But of course, it is not the only one that has miraculous properties. You can choose a palette that prevails in your closet, and do not focus only on gloomy shades. Even a total bow in a bright and saturated rainbow color can visually increase your height.

Diagonalize
It's especially effective if you do it across the entire silhouette. For example, you have a top with a flare on top and a skirt with a flare underneath, or you have a dress with two elements in the cut. The magic of diagonals is that they visually narrow the object on which they are located. And when such lines at an angle go through the whole silhouette, the figure is perceived quite differently by the eye of the beholder.

Of course, not the element alone. Prints, diagonal seams, diagonal decor, correct drapery, and asymmetry are also suitable. In general, any diagonal lines in any quantity will work well with the figure.

There is an important nuance. Watch the cut of what the diagonals are located on. For example, an over-fitting skirt with a flap or diagonal print can look bad. Conversely, an overly loose skirt with a flare can hang out like a sack without any slimming effect. Always pay attention to how the cut of the item is suitable for the slimming effect of diagonals, do not take things blindly.

Fabric density
Fabrics that hold their shape are faithful allies in our fight for slimness. The rule works even if we are looking for a tight dress. Thin material will only emphasize the extra weight. Dense fabrics, on the contrary, will create a tightening effect and there are a lot of fabric choices. From dense cotton (for example, with relief) to eco-leather, from suit fabric to denim.

Oversize design
There's a perception that oversize is visually slimming. And it is true - but there are nuances. The question is only in the competent combination with other things. Excessively loose styles can create the opposite effect - you will simply get lost in the images of overly voluminous sweatshirts, jackets, and pants. Of course, this doesn't mean you should give up on loose-fitting outfits - on the contrary. The bottom of relaxed styles can also play to your advantage. For example, palazzo pants paired with high platform shoes. The main thing is to choose the right length of pants, which should overlap the shoes.

Match your shoes to your bottoms
The golden rule that always works: if you match your shoes to your bottom (pants or jeans), they will become an extension of your legs, and add a few desired centimeters. It works the same way in the opposite direction: for example, if you choose the wrong length of short pants and combine them with boots, the shoes can "cut" the silhouette and make you visually shorter in height.

Minimize details
An abundance of details, especially mix and match of small ones, is always a visual chaos, leading to a heavier silhouette. Overdoing the decor, excessive jewelry, a strap from the bag on the body, some other accessories in large quantities, and overkill with prints can lead to visual weighting. And often, if the combination itself is chosen poorly, and to cheapen the image.

Want to thin down the silhouette, remove all unnecessary, and lead the image to simple and chic? Less details will be easier to visualize. And this does not mean that you need to go into boring outfits "without everything". You have colors, you have a complex cut, and in the end, you can choose a limited amount of decor, but it was stylish and interesting. It is important not to engage in embellishment, but to create a harmonious combination. Then it will be possible to lighten your silhouette while make your image stylish and interesting without overdoing and unnecessary decoration.
