What to Wear This Spring?

by 顺之 聂 16 Feb 2024

Every new spring brings a keen desire to change something and strive for new horizons, and a closet update is an important part of that. Spring 2024 is generous with novelties that women's hearts are longing for as they long for long walks and fresh ideas. This fashion season we expect spectacular palette updates, eclectic mixes, and scrupulous attention to detail, while the main trend remains the desire for individuality and freedom of self-expression through style. Each season brings fresh trends and new color palettes in the fashion world. Spring 2024 was no exception, bringing new shades and unexpected combinations into our everyday closet.

Fashion Weeks in New York, London, Milan, and Paris have set the trends for the coming season, which differ from the classic view of the closet - now it is more and more feminine, elegant, and simple. The riot of colors has been replaced by laconic and basic combinations, shapeless oversize has turned into tight dresses and emphasized by a belt, deliberate sexuality has found a new reading in the spring-summer season 2024: lingerie style has become restrained and layered.

The new season is a great excuse to dismantle your closet and make room for lighter, spring things. If your current closet doesn't inspire enthusiasm, it's time for some new purchases. Let's take a look at this year's fashionable shades and harmonious ways of combining them to create sophisticated and stylish looks. Before you go shopping, it would be handy to have a list of what you need in your closet this season. Let's take a look together what are the fashion trends for spring 2024.

Introducing the Most Noteworthy Spring/Summer 2024 Fashion Trends

Images from fashion week in New York, London, Milan, and Paris have flooded the web, inspiring millions of girls around the world to do daring experiments. Fashionistas are already busy making a checklist for spring shopping and thinking about what to combine these or those elements with to become even more irresistible in summer. Designers have set a trend for femininity, elegance, and simplicity while maintaining a special gloss, sexiness, and grace. We tell you what trends you should take note of and how to accentuate this spring-summer season.

Open shoulders
Oh, that trend from the 1990s! If you missed it too, we havetened to inform you that it is back in our lives. Tops, dresses, and sweaters with open shoulders can already be seen on the stars. For example, Gigi Hadid and Suki Waterhouse do not change them. This trend looks feminine and delicate, daring and sexy at the same time. After all, this model of knitwear exposes one of the most beautiful parts of a woman's body - the neck and collarbones.

Open belly
If you're thinking about low-slung jeans or crop tops, then leave them in the past. Fashion houses dictate: today, shirts, cropped cardigans and suit vests with unbuttoned buttons rule the fashion Olympus. Let them expose the stomach, thus giving a special piquancy to the image.

Asymmetry
Not that asymmetry is a new trend, but at the last shows it played with new colors: things deliberately looked as if the brands had enough fabric for only one sleeve. Especially interesting transformations occurred with shirts, as at the shows of Dior and Dries Van Noten: they are not just lowered on one shoulder, but sewn in this way.

Conspicuous lingerie
The trend for conspicuous underwear was set by Miu Miu last season: then the designers put knitted underwear and panties with crystals on top of tights, without putting any skirts on the models. Now the intimate items of our closet have become the most fashionable things of spring and summer 2024: underwear can be seen from under the body, shorts, pants, and jeans. Bodices are no surprise to anyone: in recent years, designers have done nothing but leave the breasts barely covered.

Ballon dress and skirt
This trend burst into our lives last summer and immediately fell in love with many girls. To some, the balloon reminded me of retro style, and it inspired a pleasant theatrical spirit. Either way, airy dresses and skirts became a real hit, which migrated to the new season. The puffy element remains the main star of any image and gives it a special tenderness.

Layering
Layering has been in fashion for a long time, but in the new season designers advise playing it in a new way: for example, wear two identical models of shirts or T-shirts at once. They can differ only in size (for the bottom layer you can choose a smaller version) and colors (here it is appropriate to play on contrasting combinations).

Here, by the way, Miu Miu also led the trend - recently the brand under the leadership of Miuccia Prada has been taking over the industry on all fronts. Layering is smoothly transitioning from the fall-winter season to spring and summer (read also: Something with something: the rules of layering in clothes). Wear tops with shirts, jackets, and raincoats, and wear skirts and silk scarves over jeans.

White tights
Last season, probably all fashionable girls had red tights. This spring we are switching to white tights. We saw such variants at the Chanel and Versace shows. Shoes do not necessarily have to be in tone, contrasting black shoes or loafers will do.

Trench coats
Spring 2024 fashionable outerwear naturally includes trench coats - where can you go without them? Trenchcoats differ from raincoats by having a double-breasted collar, buttons on the cuffs, and a belt on the waist. Of course, no one will be forbidden to play with shades, but this season the catwalks made a bet on neutral beige and expressive maxi length.

A dressy bottom
In the spring-summer 2024 season, skirts take on the role of the main accent in the image. The top can be anything - a white strappy top, basic shirt, monochrome cardigan, but the bottom - necessarily with a statement, for example, with sequins, glass beads, or photo print.

Deep necklines and cuts
For spring and summer 2024, choose maxi dresses with accent cuts on the stomach, blouses with deep necklines, and midi-length skirts with a slit down the leg. And be sure to take note of a fashion trick straight from the catwalks: wear your favorite shirts buttoned with only one or two buttons.

Mesh dress
At Spring-Summer 2024 Fashion Week, there didn't seem to be a single brand that didn't show a see-through dress worn over a nude body or underwear. Mesh dresses, which already took the catwalks by storm in 2015, stand out from the crowd. However, then everything was limited to this - the provocative trend did not go to the people. Perhaps, it will get a second life now, when society has become bolder and there are more variations of how to wear a net dress, for example, over a top and pants.

Gloves
Designers put the trends of bygone times into modernity, suggesting to wear gloves not to keep warm, but as an addition to a dress or even as part of the office dress code. Another interesting point: designers suggested wearing gloves not only with outerwear but also with light silk tops. The only problem is that such styling can be problematic in the heat. Leather gloves at this time can be replaced by Capron gloves, as at the Givenchy show, or organza gloves, as at 3.1 Phillip Lim.

Leather belt
This accessory was often left aside and certainly did not carry the label "fashionable". Some wore it to keep their jeans at the waist, while others rejected it as "out of place". But times go on and trends change. Now the belt is a real trend, but only on one condition: it must be made of leather. You can wear it over a coat or make it an accent piece in a simple look with a white T-shirt and denim.

Solid jewelry
Massive jewelry hasn't gone out of fashion for several seasons, but this spring and summer pay special attention to wide necklaces and ring earrings made of gold. You can wear them together or separately.

Bows
Bows were seen by many designers, and in all variations. Models at the Chanel show walked the runway with large silk bows in their hair, while Versace girls wore mini bows reminiscent of the ones we wore as children. Small bows were also seen in clothes and on bags and it is already being worn by fashion influencers today.

Cute Spring Outfit for 2024

Blazer + jeans + loafers
A relaxed-cut black blazer, a pair of timeless straight blue jeans, and loafers are an ensemble you're sure to see every day on the streets. And it hasn't lost its appeal for a long time.

Cashmere sweater + mini skirt + boots
An image that is very much loved by London fashionistas. All three items of this bow are a base that will bail you out all the time. This is also a very versatile outfit: it will suit both for work in the office and for sitting in a cafe.

Sweater + jeans + suede bag
Jeans are the basis of many images. However, in this case, it is not so much the denim itself that matters, but the color. White clothes are becoming more and more, and not only in the form of summer dresses. The combination of white knitwear, white jeans, and brown suede bag looks fresh and relevant, but also classic at the same time.

Trench coat + cardigan + wide-leg pants
There are plenty of trench coats around, but the question is how you style them. Pay attention to a cardigan and a t-shirt under a split trench coat. An elegant combination that will make an ordinary bow with a trench coat much more interesting.
