How to Dress for Work in Winter?

by 顺之 聂 27 Mar 2024

If you work in an office, you have probably at least once faced the problem of what to wear. This question is especially relevant in wintertime. Winter is the time when you don't want to get out of the warm blanket and leave your cozy apartment. However, in the end, you still have to do it, because no frosts and snowfalls can free us from going to the office.

Work outfits from summer or demi-seasonal differ only in color scheme and denser materials. In winter, it is not easy to choose the perfect winter work outfits: In order not to freeze on the way to work, you have to insulate yourself, but it is worth sitting in the transport or entering a warm room, as the "insulator" comes out to you sideways. The ideal option is to put on something warm, which can be removed in any warm indoor situation. But the jacket we used to wear to the office hardly fits into outerwear.

The office doesn't mean boring, and winter work outfits won't limited to a white top and black bottom. The cold season is not a hindrance to stylish work outfits. However, it is much easier to make such an image than you thought. In this article, we have picked up ideas of stylish looks that you can try on yourself.

How to Choose a Winter Work Dress?

The office dress code for winter simply cannot be imagined without a warm dress. Women's winter dresses that will be appropriate in the office, should be either up to the knee or up to the middle of the lower leg. Of fabrics, it is preferable to choose models made of wool, cashmere, and angora. This season fashionable will be both fitted dresses and with a flared skirt.

For strict aesthetics of winter office style, we suggest diluting with dresses of deep red color or Bergendy color. Red is always refreshing, in red you will always be at the center of attention. But, at the same time, do not forget that the strictness and restraint of such winter work outfits should be preserved. Also in winter will be appropriate dresses of gray, mustard, blue colors, and pastel shades. Business dresses of this winter season border on the elegance of evening dresses. But it should not be forgotten that the dress to the office should not be frank, too tight, or on the contrary puffy.

How to Choose Winter Work Trousers?

Every woman who works in an office should have a pair of business trousers in her closet Stylists advise choosing a suit made of high-quality wool. Loose-fit pants or classic cut with arrows cropped or long jackets in black, blue, or gray colors will make good winter work outfits.

Suits of these colors are basic, they go well with blouses light sweaters, and turtlenecks of all colors. But, if your figure allows, you can also choose a suit of sandy shade. Especially pastel colors. Business pantsuits should be chosen with the consideration that under the pants can be dressed in tights, and under the jacket, blouse, or turtleneck. Therefore, when choosing a suit, try on a thick jacket, and make sure that the sleeves do not sting and are not meek either. It is the pantsuit that is most often chosen in winter, rather than a suit with a skirt.

How to Choose Office Appropriate Knitwear?

With the onset of cold weather, you want to replace shirts and blouses with warm, cozy knitted things, in which you can survive the most record-breaking cold weather. At this point, we face a difficult question: how to stay within the dress code, look stylish, and not risk your comfort in the office.

So, about knitwear for your winter work outfits you need to know:
for the office and "going out in public" material should be of good quality, not cheap, then it will hold its shape, look decent, and last for more than one season;

It is better to choose clothes in basic colors. For an autumn closet, warm shades are suitable: beige, ochre, brown, olive. Cold gray, burgundy, and blue are also good, but a milky white turtleneck (for example) is impractical, but not forbidden;

In a set for the office should be one or two knitted things, not all at once;

A turtleneck, sweater, or dress should be a semi-fitted silhouette and rather larger size than smaller. There is no need to emphasize imperfections of the figure or excess weight;

So, what kind of knitwear can help with the winter work outfits?

Turtlenecks
A monochrome light-colored or black turtleneck can be worn under a jacket or a long vest in business style. Such an "insulated" solution will easily replace the shirt. You can also create a stylish image with a long skirt made of fabric denser than the turtleneck. If the option with a skirt does not suit you, then we recommend choosing culottes pants.

Knitted dresses
A knitted or crocheted dress can be properly styled for winter work outfits. It is worth choosing textured fabrics. We suggest you choose models in a warm fall palette: ochre, olive, and yellow. To complete the image we advise you to add a business-style vest made of structured fabric. This season, boots are more often worn with dresses, keeping your knees warm.

Pullovers
Thin pullovers can always be worn over a shirt or a shirt dress. In general, the simplest combination "pullover with the classic suit pants" will be appropriate for the office. Stick to calm shades, and a bright accent, if desired, you can make the bottom part of the outfit.

Easy and Chic Winter Outfits You Can Comfortably Wear to Work

The ideal winter work outfits must meet several criteria. Firstly, it should be beautiful. Secondly, it should be comfortable, because in the office we spend most of the day, and in uncomfortable clothes, you can hardly do it comfortably. In winter the third criterion is added: in the office image, you should be comfortable both outside and indoors. It may seem that it is difficult to choose an image based on these criteria, but there are a lot of suitable options. We tell you what to wear to the office in winter.

Sweater + midi skirt
The main element of winter work outfits is a cashmere or wool sweater with a high collar, which protects from frost and makes the image feminine and elegant. It is combined not only with pants but also with dresses and midi-length skirts made of knitwear, denim, or leather. Such an outfit is perfect for a work meeting, in which you will look stylish and yet official. Complete the look with massive ring earrings, a small textured bag, and pointy-toed boots.

Turtleneck + shirt + wool pants
The surest way to make stylish winter work outfits is to "insulate" the already existing combo. If before the onset of cold weather, you wore to work a combo of a voluminous cotton shirt with a lapel collar and wool pants, now just add a turtleneck to it. A thin but warm, laconic, wool or cashmere turtleneck. The shirt over it can be buttoned up, leaving only the high collar visible, or half unbuttoned and tucked into the pants. Flat-toe boots and pointy-toed booties are equally suitable as footwear - choose according to your mood.

Knitted dress
Midi dresses made of thin, flowing fabric in winter are better replaced by knitted ones. They will not only warm up well but also provide additional comfort during the whole working day. To keep the stylish business look, it is important to choose the right dress: it is best to go with a dense fabric, which holds its shape and emphasizes the shape of the figure, but does not completely encircle it. Complete the winter work outfits with tall kitten-heel boots and your favorite woolen coat.

Shirt + jeans + tweed jacket
Unless your office has an extremely strict dress code, you probably show up there in jeans a lot. To add sophistication to this basic closet item (and at the same time - to insulate yourself), we suggest adding a tweed jacket to your jeans. Wear a classic cotton shirt or a thin cashmere turtleneck underneath. A perfect finish will be boots on a stable heel - a compromise between elegance and comfort.

Pantsuit + turtleneck
The most obvious, but still stylish winter work outfits option is a pantsuit paired with a turtleneck. In this case, it will be a warmer alternative to the classic shirt. It's good if the suit is made of wool: it holds its shape perfectly, looks "expensive" and hardly allows you to freeze. Any footwear will do: from stiletto boots to lace-up shoes.

Oversized jacket
It is the most comfortable clothes for winter work outfits. There are two possible approaches: you buy a suit and, not knowing grief, wear it for better or worse, or choose a jacket and pants separately.

In any case, the most relevant for the office - jackets. In cold weather, even a sweater with a large, coarse knit will fit under them. The most reliable business pants are classics with arrows. Of the neoclassical popular options, I suggest wider variations with a high waist - palazzo and flare.

By the way, instead of pants, you can wear jeans to the office, especially since in fashion restrained and laconic models: straight or black, gray colors without strong scuffs, holes, fringe, patches, or other decor.

Shirt + knit vest + suit skirt
The knitted vest is a big hit of the season. Everyone from Kate Middleton to Rosalia is wearing it in combination with a shirt, so you should try it on. In general, with such a "top" you can safely wear jeans and wool pants, but we suggest complementing it with a long skirt. You will get a feminine, but cozy (thanks to the vest) image. You should add minimalistic shoes: go for boots or Chelsea boots.

If you wear a stable heel, loose cut pants in pastel shades, and a blouse with a beautiful laconic decoration, your image will become much more relaxed and interesting.

Bright colors, especially pink and red, are the masthead of the cold season and have won our hearts. Don't be afraid to wear a spectacular palette to the office and even make total winter work outfits in such shades. The main thing is that the cut of things remains restrained and calm.
