7 Tips for Staying Warm in a Skirt

Although today's stylists suggest wearing summer models in winter, let's be realistic. Of course, the combination of different textures looks interesting. But let's save this combination for those days when the weather gets warmer. After all, temperature fluctuations happen in winter, too.

And for frosty days, let's choose skirts, paying attention to a few points.

1. Material. The main criterion for selecting a suitable material in winter is its density. Drap, thick wool, knitwear, and other fabrics are suitable, provided they are dense. You can also diversify the image with leather skirts.

2. Length. I advised on how to wear mini skirts in winter, but in a midi, maxi skirts will be warmer. Especially if it is a straight-cut skirt because it does not fly apart when walking, and the wind under it "does not blow." The length of outerwear is no less important. Sheepskin, coat, or down jacket: the longer, the warmer. There are also jackets with thermoregulation, which warms from the inside by retaining your body heat.

3. The style. The most suitable styles for winter skirts are not narrow (they are colder!) but loose, wide, or expanding downward - clash, plissé, A-silhouette.

4. Thermal underwear. Thermal underwear is a good way to stay warm in skirts in winter. In the collections of many brands, you can find thermal underwear or thermal tights. They are not too dense but, at the same time, perfectly warm. It is also often subdivided into rulers on the heat level, so everyone can pick up the best option. A big plus is that thermal underwear can be found in black and brighter shades, so if you want, such tights will become a color accent of the image.

5. Leggings with imitation capron tights. A great invention for those who like the effect of thin capron tights. The leggings are flesh-colored and have insulation inside, and their top layer is a thin capron. Thus, visually, it is as if you are wearing one pair of aprons while keeping you warm and comfortable in winter. If you have ordinary beige leggings, you can repeat this trick yourself, putting them on first and on top - any tights with a pattern, decor, or color. In our opinion, it's a very practical life hack!

6. Layering. This tip will seem strange to you, so I marked it with an asterisk. I came up with this method, but I decided to share it in case it will be useful for you in winter. If the skirts are wide, you can put another pencil skirt made of dense knitwear under it. It would be good if both skirts were the same length (maxi or midi) so that the hem of the lower skirt was not translucent and did not stand out.

7. High Boots. High boots are another way to stay warm in winter skirts and remain on trend. Botforts are a great help if you want to wear a mini, and in a duet with a midi or maxi, cold weather will not stand a chance.

Skirt Outfits for Winter: How to Style Them?

Outfit 1: Wool Skirt+ Jacket
One of the most optimal winter options is skirts with a lot of wool in the composition. They not only keep you warm and fit well but also visually slim. To create a stylish image for work, combine a wool skirt with a classic blouse or shirt. If you are afraid of freezing, use thermal underwear or a turtleneck as the first layer. You can stay warm and comfortable even in a fairly short skirt if you choose the right material. The most reliable option is wool. Whether tweed or bouclé, these materials protect you from the cold and wind. Wool skirts look best with jackets and sweaters - and don't forget to add reliable, non-slip shoes and miniature flirty (or brutal) accessories.

Outfit 2: A Flared Skirt+A Sweater
In a monochrome or colorful image for winter, perfectly fit skirts with a stocking. Classic elongated models are especially popular this season. Look out for models made of dense fabric or eco-leather. In combination with long boots and a classic coat, a skirt with a flap allows you to create a trendy but, at the same time, restrained everyday image. A stylish bag can become an accent detail of the image. We have already told you what models of bags you can make on your own.

Outfit 3: Pleated Skirt+Coat
To create a comfortable and stylish image for winter, you will need a pleated skirt, a classic coat, a warm sweater, a jacket, and high boots. The simple formula allows you to create a basic layered look. Especially this season, relevant pleated skirts are made of eco-leather or dense silk. Jackets choose monochrome or with actual prints.

Outfit 4: Wool Skirts+A Classic Shirt
One of the most optimal winter options is skirts with a lot of wool in the composition. They keep warm and hold their shape well and are visually slim. To create a stylish image for work, combine a wool skirt with a classic blouse or shirt. If you are afraid of freezing, use thermal underwear or a turtleneck as the first layer. A long or short woolen skirt goes well with high boots and shortened solid boots. Accessorize with statement earrings, sunglasses, or a basic bag.

Outfit 5: Leather Skirts +Turtleneck
A skirt made of genuine leather is a reliable way to insulate yourself in winter and look as spectacular as possible. Such models are good not only for resistance to cold and wind but also for complimentary fit and wide combination with other closet items. To be at the height, a turtleneck, rough boots on thick soles, and a trendy bag will be enough. And if you want something special, let everything in the set be leather - the shirt, the skirts and the shoes.

Outfit 6: Midi Skirts+Tall Boots
High boots will be a reliable defense against wetness and cold, so don't skimp. Choosing stylish and comfortable models for winter. Make sure the boots have thick enough soles and do not get wet to protect yourself from the weather and wear them with mid-length skirts. This season, this combination will be the most relevant. Monochrome sets will look great, too.

Outfit 7: Long Skirt + Sweater
Long skirts can provide more warmth in winter. All thanks to the air they trap. Combine long skirts with leather jackets, voluminous shirts in warm fabrics, avant-garde sweaters, and other tops to create a bold and relevant combination that is far from conservative.

Outfit 8: Skirts+Long Coat
A skirt and outerwear can protect you from the cold winter and wind on the street. A long coat will add a layer of warmth and protect your legs from the weather. Well, indoors, you won't need this layer for sure. By the way, the combination of a coat with long floors and a short skirt looks stylish and elegant, so you will surely like the effect. Long skirts will also look successful. In this case, shoes can be any- high or low.

Outfit 9: Narrow Skirts + Snow Boots
Snow boots are very suitable to style with skirts in winter. Snow Boots are the most unobvious pair for a skirt but can make a good combo. The skirt should be chosen in a narrow cut: it will create a contrast with voluminous Snow Boots and will not violate the proportions of the silhouette. If we talk about outerwear, they should be either very short (yes, waist) or very long. Snow Boots are better to combine with tights in tone; otherwise, they can visually expand the legs.

Outfit 10: Mini Skirts+ Boots With A Wide Shank
A wide shank of boots, in combination with a knee-length or lower skirt, will create additional volume in the lower part of the silhouette, which can visually spoil the figure. But mini skirts combined with wide boots will look great. As in the previous case, tights should be chosen in tone with the shoes. The top can be both tight and voluminous - any will do.
