by LiWenshan 12 Mar 2024

It seems that finding the right winter clothes is not difficult. Putting on a warmer jacket or wrapping yourself in a scarf is necessary. But some people, even wrapped up in a pile of clothes, continue to freeze. We discovered which things will warm up in the cold winter months and which will not. In winter, special attention should be paid to the choice of clothing. After all, it primarily performs a protective function this time of year. Failure to take this into account can also hurt health - hypothermia, which can lead to disease.

In addition, everyone has become concerned about how women dress in winter. On the one hand, we want to look stylish and attractive. On the other hand, we do not want to catch a cold or get sick from the cold. So, how do you make the right choice between beauty and warmth? You can combine these two things and wear something stylish, but at the same time warm and practical. In this article, you will find tips on what to wear in winter. How to Layer Warm Clothing?

Layering your clothes in winter is a real lifehack that will help you create a warm and beautiful image. It is very convenient because, with its help, you can regulate body temperature by removing or unbuttoning the top layer in hot weather or while indoors. For example, such layering comes in handy if you are going for a walk or need to go to work, school, a restaurant or another place during the cold season. So, what does layering include?

Inner Layer
Despite centuries of tradition, underwear (meaning not briefs and a bra, but a long-sleeved t-shirt and tights) made of cotton is not at all the best choice in winter. The problem is that it is very hygroscopic. It absorbs everything your skin secretes and keeps it inside, so you get the perfect cooling layer where you should be dry and warm. If you're moving vigorously and then standing or walking around outside and periodically going into a warm room - you're almost certainly going to sweat more than once. A cotton undershirt will be damp and cold. Instead of cotton as a bottom layer, wear wool or synthetic underwear, which quickly wicks moisture away from the upper layers of clothing. These days, it's fine and soft Merino wool that is worn even by infants. Scaremongering about "synthetics" can also be left in the past. High-tech functional fabrics are no less comfortable to wear than cotton. You can also wear thin underwear, which will be less noticeable under clothes. In addition, thin blouses, shirts and turtlenecks are suitable as the first layer. You can wear leggings or tights as a bottom.

Insulation Layer
The second layer is designed to maximize insulation while wicking away moisture. Everything you put on top of your thermal underwear should not prevent water from escaping so as not to turn you into a greenhouse, especially if you are actively moving. A sweater made of wool (be careful when ordering such things online, often sweaters with six in the composition prickle) or acrylic with fleece. They can keep you warm in winter but at the same time blow through. You can also wear things made of dense denim and suit fabric. As a rule, now for these purposes, sweaters are made based on hollow polyester fibres. Their structure allows moisture to pass well outside, and the fluffy material on the underside retains heat well. You can replace the fleece with a wool sweater if you will not move much and sweat. In particular, winter colds can also come in handy with an ultra-thin down jacket, which can be put on under outerwear as an additional insulation layer. For example, such models of thin-down jackets (and vests) are sold almost everywhere. Down is worth wearing pants made of the above fabrics or dense jeans. "If you want to wear a skirt, it is better to wear two layers under it. For example, woollen tights and leggings on top," notes the expert.

Outer Layer
In a perfect world, the classic top layer would be a jacket. It's not warm (the middle layer should take care of that), but it protects you well from wind and precipitation. This is the right choice if you will lead an active lifestyle and move around a lot. If hiking is only winter physical activity, choose any comfortable jacket (but for more or less forays into nature, a down or synthetic insulated jacket is still preferable to a fur or sheepskin jacket).

How to Keep Your Head, Hands and Feet Warm?

Gloves - Mittens for your hands in winter, preferably with a waterproof top layer. Your fingers warm each other in mittens, so they are preferable to gloves in cold weather. The main condition is that mittens should be on the size. In tight blood flow is disturbed, and hands freeze.

Hats - On the head, it is better to take a hat that covers the ears in winter. The hat can be woollen or fur. Make sure that it is on the size that is, a little free, not compressing the head. The same applies to mittens - if they are too tight, their wearing can lead to circulatory disorders. By the way, mittens are a much warmer option than gloves, so it is better to choose them for severe frost. Scarves are long and soft so that they can hide your face from strong wind or frost.

Scarf - It is better to wear a long and soft scarf. Tightly fitting to the body, it will not allow the heat to escape. In such a scarf, it will be possible to hide your face - in order not to catch a cold respiratory tract. You have probably seen, at least in the photo, how people in northern countries dress in winter. They often make do with a light fall coat or a thin jacket but wear a hat and a warm scarf. You do not have to do exactly that, but you should not neglect winter accessories either. By the way, it is better to buy them separately: sets of scarves, hats and gloves have long been irrelevant.

Boots - To keep your feet warm, there should be enough space around them to keep the warm air in, and the material of the shoes should hold the heat well. That's why it's so warm in Uggs - the thick layer of fur perfectly retains the heated air around the foot. For walking, choose comfortable shoes with natural fur in winter.

Cover Ankle - The assumption that we lose most of our heat through the head is a myth. All parts of the body should be well covered in winter. Therefore, you should not leave your ankles exposed. You can wear thick tights under your pants, put gaiters over them, or simply tuck your pants into your boots to keep warm.

Winter Fashion Clothes for Women

Fur coat
In winter, celebrities and fashionistas love to wear down jackets and fur coats - the most popular warm outerwear. To create a non-trivial image with fur products, you can play with colours - for example, choose pants or jeans of the same shade as the coat. Thanks to such a stylish trick, you will have a complete look. You can also pick up a pair of tall boots in the tone of the coat, which will make your image more fashionable. They can even be black - it all depends on the tone of the jacket and pants.

Oversized jacket
Here's a great example of how to dress for winter 2023 and beyond. The combination of a big collar sweater and an oversized jacket is a winter closet classic. You can go for something two-coloured, such as a creamy white sweater with a large collar and a dark oversized jacket. There are many different colour combinations. Just remember that the colours should be contrasting. Even if you don't want to wear too many outfits in winter because of the cold weather, you can just wear an oversized jacket and go out.

A brightly coloured down jacket
The first idea that girls wear in winter is to choose a down jacket. It is practically the warmest outer layer in winter. Contrasts of colours and variations of textures are the secret of a stylish, bright image in winter. All elements of the suit complement each other. A loose-down jacket visually softens the rough bottom, and leather pants compensate for the simplicity of the top. To add relevance to an already fashionable combination, choose popular shades of the season - green, bright blue, orange and fuchsia. Loose, cropped down jackets and narrow leather pants are ideal for slender figures. For those wondering how to wear a full girl in winter, choosing outerwear with a smaller volume is better.

Sheepskin coat
In the current winter season, sheepskin coats are becoming increasingly popular. Usually, they are combined with jeans or classic pants. To make your image stand out, choosing the right pair of boots is important. Why not create a feminine look with "character"? Put aside your favourite boots and opt for booties instead. Pairing short sleeves with a sheepskin coat can visually make your legs look longer than they are.
